Get fit and lose weight while enjoying an authentic Texas experience at the Hill Country Health and Fitness Center at Rancho Cortez! Spend your days hiking, strength training, kick-boxing, doing water aerobics and eating meals set up by our registered dietician. Our program is physician approved and our instructors are certified through The Cooper Institute.
Our great success rate is due to the loyalty of our certified personal trainers and our participants' dedication. This isn’t a program that you leave behind at the ranch -- this is a new way of living. You will leave fitter, happier and leaner than when you arrived, and with the motivation and tools to continue your journey to better health.
A full fitness schedule will challenge you to help you achieve your weight loss goals. An escape from dull mainstream gyms, Rancho Cortez is the ideal destination for people who want to mix up their routine with something new and different. Go hiking, start weight training, try water aerobics and more. Our new gym and indoor pools are perfect additions to our great outdoor setting. Relax by our outdoor pool, or take one of the meditation classes designed to help you understand your inner issues.
We are located in the beautiful Texas Hill Country, just one and a half hours from San Antonio's world-famous Riverwalk and the Alamo. Go sight seeing, or just stay at the ranch and enjoy your free time. Work out as much or as little as you like -- we will encourage you to rest when physically tired, and to give it your all when you’re working out. Come alone or bring your family and friends to support you in your lifestyle change.

On day one you will be weighed, measured and your fitness level will be tested. You will be given instruction on how to use a heart rate monitor, and how to stay in your fitness zone. Weekly weigh-ins help monitor your progress, along with monthly re-measuring and retesting. You will be amazed at how quickly your body will respond. You will be thrilled to see that you CAN do it. Make it your goal to be our biggest loser!
During your stay you have the opportunity to participate in activities appropriate to your tested fitness level. The fitness cuisine includes three meals and two snacks daily, all of which are prepared under the guidance of a registered dietician. We also have weekly weigh-ins designed to help you monitor your progress.
There are many fun, fitness activities offered at the Fitness Ranch! These include walking, hiking, water aerobics, weight training, stretch classes, horseback riding, yoga on horseback and kickboxing. To ensure your safety and best possible performance, all activities are guided by Cooper Institute certified personal trainers. All classes, techniques, menus, dietary guidelines and suggested heart rate ranges are also established per guidelines set up by The Cooper Institute.

30-Day Cancellation policy applies to all reservations. There are no refunds; if you must leave the Fitness program early due to unforseen circumstances or family commitments, we will gladly honor the remaining credit you have with us and assist you in scheduling a return date.
If you are flying into one of the local airports (Boerne - Stinson Field, or Kerrville) or San Antonio International, we will pick you up and return you for a round trip fee of $200.

What to bring:
- Comfortable shoes for hiking, as well as a good pair of sneakers for just walking
- Bathing Suit
- Beach towel (we do have large towels, but we recommend you also bring one of your own)
- Sunscreen
- Lip balm
- Cap or hat
- Blow dryer (there are no blow dryers in the rooms)
- Your favorite pillow or blanket, if necessary – but we do supply all linens, bed and bath
- Personal toiletries
- Camera
- Bandera is a small town, but it does have a Super S grocery store, a True Value hardware store, and a local drug store. It is only a ten minute drive into town and someone is usually always going that way, so if you need anything, you will probably not have a problem getting it in town.
